This wave spring is part of the arm restraint assembly shown in Figure 17 of the Section 3 parts breakdown. It provides the spring tension that keeps the arm restraint mechanism engaged, so the swing arms stay locked in position when a vehicle is raised. A fatigued or broken spring lets the restraint disengage too easily, a safety issue that should be corrected right away.
