This shaft is part of the rolling jack’s mechanical safety lock system, connecting the lock components so the jack can be held securely at height. Because it’s a safety-critical part, replace it as soon as it shows wear, bending, or corrosion, and inspect the mating H4P-9004 handle and H4P-9500 safety lock at the same time.
