Description
Ammco 3085 Polyethylene Spindle Boot – Brake Lathe Protective Spindle Cover
The Ammco 3085 is a black retractable polyethylene boot that mounts on the right side of the main spindle (arbor) on Ammco brake lathes. Its purpose is to shield the spindle and shaft seal from brake dust, metal chips, and contamination generated during rotor and drum resurfacing. Over time the boot can become brittle, cracked, or torn, reducing protection and accelerating seal wear and spindle scoring. Before ordering, verify that your machine uses the large spindle boot position and confirm that the existing boot retains its bronze retention ring, which is required for correct fitment but is not included with this boot.

Fitment & Ordering Notes
Each brake lathe uses two spindle boots (one per side). Before ordering, confirm that your machine's existing boot includes the bronze retention ring fitted at the outermost end – this ring is required for proper boot operation and is not included with this boot. If your machine's ring is missing or damaged, it must be sourced separately (Ammco ring reference 7682 / 23682). Verify the part number against your machine's parts manual or serial-number record to confirm correct fitment prior to purchase.
Additional Product Information
This polyethylene boot replaces the older soft-rubber version of the Ammco spindle boot and is designed for longer service life. Specialist suppliers recommend inspecting and servicing the boot approximately every 400–500 rotors to maintain effective protection of the carriage and spindle seal. The boot is equivalent to OEM part number 3085 and its successor reference 903085.
